The Professional Development & Training Center of SW Michigan is a non-profit 501 (C) 3, Michigan licensed proprietary school. The PDTC believes that every adult should have the opportunity to enhance their personal, technical and professional skills required to earn a living wage in today’s economy.

Our mission is to assist in raising individuals’ earning potential through training in professional office skills. Upon completion of our program, students will have the confidence and ability to compete for entry-level positions in the employment market.

Stacy Rodgers

Stacy Rodgers, Executive Director and Founder stacy@pdtc.biz

Stacy oversees operations and holds the responsibility for Community Development through partnerships and collaborations, student recruitment, and expansion of our mobile training operation.
 
Stacy believes that we are all born with potential and it doesn't go away because of age or what life has brought to us, it needs to be cultivated. As the Founder of PDTC, the idea was to continue to assist people to find their positive side and give them an opportunity to redevelop themselves.

Stacy offers a diverse professional background; over eight years in development & training for a financial institute, professional sales and regional management for Revlon Cosmetics and many years in the Human Resources and placement business. Her educational background is Business and Communication.

Stacy is one of the founders of the Professionals for Success Business to Business Networking Solutions; currently assisting as the Business Development Director for the SW Michigan Region. Assisting in speed Networking Events and the monthly meetings, PFS is affiliated with the Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Battle Creek Chamber of Commerce.

Stacy is involved within the community and has memberships with KHRMA, Northside Business Association, Kalamazoo Regional Chamber and the Oakwood Bible Church. Stacy has spoke at many events and luncheons on topics of encouragement, networking and motivating individuals and groups to realize their potential both personally and professionally.

Nicole Fonger, Director of Organizational Development & Training nicole@pdtc.biz

Nicole is a highly motivated and focused individual who embodies the PDTC philosophy of excellence in service and striving to reach higher goals for both herself and the organization.  Nicole comes to PDTC with an extensive background in sales, which is complimented by her MBA in Global Management & a Bachelors degree in Marketing & Management from nearby Northwood University.

Originally from the U.K., Nicole moved to West Branch, Michigan at a young age. She lived in Rochester, Michigan after college, and then Kalamazoo.

Nicole enjoys bike riding, golf, soccer and reading.  Nicole believes in the power of networking, so she is an active member of the following local organizations.

Lindsey Crawford Lindsey Crawford, Adjunct Instructor

 

Lindsey’s professional background includes working at the corporate headquarters for Wal-Mart International in the Marketing and Real Estate departments in Bentonville, Arkansas.  Her marketing assignments ranged from strategic business planning, to creative campaign management of television commercials, special events, Asian Supercenter grand openings and eventually real estate site selection for new stores.  In addition, she has developed shopping centers in Oregon and Washington and currently works as a Commercial Real Estate Broker representing large format retailers expand their market share.  Key clients include: Target, Providence Hospitals, Kohls, Best Buy, The Avenue, DSW Shoes & Sprint.

 

Lindsey is from Portland, Oregon but has spent five of the last ten years living in Japan and Northern Ireland.  She has an undergraduate degree in International Business and Japanese from the University of Washington in Seattle and a Masters degree in Peace & Conflict Resolution from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland.  She is a member of Rotary International, Junior League, International Council of Shopping Centers and Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW).  Her hobbies include playing with her kids and husband, experiencing new places, long cycling trips, microbrew, getting involved with the community and empowering others.  A recent job opportunity for her husband has brought the family to Kalamazoo.

Byron Foster

Byron Foster, Adjunct Instructor

Byron Foster’s professional career has consisted of diversified industry human resources positions, executive search positions, and management of a not-for-profit internship development organization affiliate in Chicago.  In addition he has managed independent consulting projects, focused on career transition coaching and training, professional staffing, diversity training and professional development program design and facilitation, and event planning project management

 

Among the major corporations in which Byron has worked or managed contract assignments for are Kellogg, Target, United Technologies, Lee Hecht Harrison, Amoco (Prior to BP merger), Ryder Integrated Logistics, Motorola, Inroads-Chicago, Mobil (Prior to Exxon merger), Merck, and American Cyanamid Company.

 

Byron has had extensive involvement with several organizations including Kalamazoo HR Management Association[KHRMA] (Past Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee), NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers), GEM (National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science), NABA (National Association of Black Accountants), NBMBAA (National Black MBA Association), NSHMBA (National Society of Hispanic MBA’s), NAAAHR (National Association of African Americans in HR), NSN (National Sales Network), and Inroads.  He has served as committee chair/co-chair, on advisory boards, and workshop facilitator for several of these organizations.

 

Byron was born and raised in New York, and attended Howard University and Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ, from which he earned a BS in Business Management.  He has also served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

 

Byron is married and has 4 children, all of whom are adults and successfully engaged in there respective careers.

 

This opportunity as an Adjunct Professor at PDTC enables me share knowledge and useful information with students in this program, which will hopefully be beneficial professionally and personally.  I am forever grateful for the time and interest of others who shared their knowledge to help me along my career path.  Being able to give back is personally fulfilling.

 

TimHarvey

Tim Harvey, Adjunct Instructor

Tim has worked in the business field for over a decade, earning Million Dollar Round Table status, Siler fee-based financial planner status, and ranking in the top 15% of all managers for a global financial services firm.  Some of the most enjoyable duties of past careers have been training and developing people.  His most recent project includes overhauling the operations, training, marketing, and finances of his church's in-house café, tripling profitability.  Interests include roasting coffee, gardening, camping, and investing time with his family.  His favorite skills to use are listening, analyzing a situation, and creating an innovative solution. 

Alma Thurmer

Alma Thurmer, Adjunct Instructor

Alma Thurmer is a former English teacher with the United States Peace Corps in the Central African Republic. In 1989 she graduated from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles and has practiced law in Michigan since 1990. Alma has worked in various office settings and has owned and managed several businesses. She is excited about teaching business skills at Professional Development & Training Center to share her diverse experience and to motivate others to be successful. Alma enjoys volunteering as a tutor, grant researcher, presenter/recruiter, event planner and even a ballet rehearsal assistant. Alma is looking forward to teaching the Basic Supervisory Course this Spring. "Truly there is nothing more satisfying than helping others gain confidence and become the best they can be."

Debra assists with contacting the media through various correspondence and marketing tools. She also assists with the phone and administrative duties.

Barb Miner, Microsoft Certified Office Specialist

Barb's passion is working with people to help them feel more confident in their ability to learn, to create, and to complete computer-based tasks with ease.

Barb worked with computers in a corporate environment for over 20 years, yet she remains amazed that she can get in touch with what it feels like to be a beginner. She often hears “I’m so stupid” and doesn’t believe a word of it. 

Barb believes that no one is “stupid” when it comes to computers – there are just things not yet encountered or learned. She looks forward to working with people to help remove the fear and anxiety that many people feel when starting to work with computers, teaching them techniques while adding in elements of fun because she loves to hear a student’s “ah-ha’s”!!

Bonnie is an experienced instructor with patience and understanding , who enjoys seeing people get enthusiastic about learning. She realizes how difficult it can be to learn new subjects, but with encouragement and the right tools, it is attainable. There is nothing more rewarding than hearing a student say, “Oh – I get it!” As an instructor, you never stop learning.

Bonnie’s background has been with Ameritech/SBC as an instructor. Presently, she is a contracted telephone system instructor for Ameritraining and works part time in a managerial and sales position for the KCHA.

Bonnie has lived in Kalamazoo most of her life. She has a degree from Davenport University. She is a member of WMUK, and the Kalamazoo Chamber - Professionals for Success. Her newest hobby is learning to play golf.
