The Professional Development & Training Center of SW Michigan is a non-profit 501 (C) 3, Michigan licensed proprietary school. The PDTC believes that every adult should have the opportunity to enhance their personal, technical and professional skills required to earn a living wage in today’s economy.

Our mission is to assist in raising individuals’ earning potential through training in professional office skills. Upon completion of our program, students will have the confidence and ability to compete for entry-level positions in the employment market.

Students are taught basic office skills such as:  
  1. Creating documents with Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel.
  2. How to use the Internet to search for employment and business use.
  3. How to work as a team in the work place and to achieve a common goal.
  4. Professional office etiquette and responsibilities.
  5. Accountability and commitment.

Students will learn how to develop job search talents such as:

  1. Resume and cover letter preparation
  2. Confidence with job interviews and presentations.
  3. Networking for employment and business.


After the student has completed the six (6) week Office and Business
Fundamental Program
, they will receive a certificate of completion; they will have a professional resume , and possess skills needed to assist in building their confidence in obtaining employment opportunities.

PDTC offers a professional environment for the students, and our classes are small in size for more personal attention.

PDTC requirements: Student needs to be at least 18 years of age, highly motivated, and ready to learn new skills or brush up on previous skills for new or better employment.

 

The Business Administration Program is a course collection of :

Each of the above three course subjects can also be taken separately and, upon completion, a certificate for each will be granted.

Students are taught basic office skills such as:

Business Components:

  • Sales and Marketing 101: Students are introduced to sales and marketing job skills such as: focused business-to-business networking, market management, goal setting and meeting quotas, developing PowerPoint presentations, time management, record keeping, developing and closing a sale.
  • Basic Supervisory: Students are introduced to various supervisory and management skills such as: interviewing and diversity skills, scheduling, professional presentation & meeting preparation, conflict management, coaching, and employee appraisals.

Students will learn how to develop job search talents such as:

  • Resume and cover letter preparations.
  • Confidence with job interviews

After the student has completed the six week PDTC Business Administration Program, they will receive a certificate of completion with 9 transferable credits to KVCC. They will have a professional resume and acquired skills needed to assist in building their confidence in obtaining employment opportunities.

This course is designed for the individual that wants to succeed in the sales and/or marketing employment sector.
